We welcome you to join us on Sunday 1st December, 4pm at St John the Evangelist church, for our Christingle – a Christmas Service for the whole family.
Christingle means ‘Christ Light’ and is used to celebrate Jesus Christ as the “Light of the World”.
Started by The Children’s Society, the Chrsitingle is a symbol to help children understand the importance of Jesus and the Gospel and their relevance at Christmas.
During the service, the congregation all ‘build’ a Christingle and learn about the four elements which make it*:
• An orange represents the world
• A red ribbon or red tape represents the blood of Christ
• Four sweets represent the fruits of God’s creation
• A lit candle represents Jesus as the light of the world
*All materials are supplied by church and will be handed to you when you arrive.
