Baker Street demolitions
We were greeted this Sunday morning to the first stage of the redevelopment of the town centre, as a number of the unoccupied old shop buildings were demolished on Baker Street. It really is a strange sight to anyone who has grown up with the buildings!
The space will make way for a new, inner relief road and free up the main street for pedestrianisation. It is the first stage in a process that will see Hucknall grow significantly over the next 10-15 years.
Historically, whenever the town has grown, so has St Mary Magdalene church and our recent restoration and development projects ensure the church will remain as a focus point for the town, a haven of peace and reflection and a symbol of God’s presence in the life of the community.
