The idea is that those ‘riding and striding’ are sponsored for the number of churches they visit, and those providing a welcome in churches may be sponsored for the number of visitors who arrive during their time on duty. Half of the money raised goes to our own churches and the other half to Nottinghamshire Historic Churches Trust, enabling them to make grants to help churches with repair costs. In Hucknall, we received help from the Trust towards St John’s heating and for the work recently completed on the South Transept wall of St Mary Magdalene’s church

Support your local community with a visit to the Christmas Tree Festival; celebrate Jesus as the Light of the World at our Christingle service (the service with the orange); rediscover old favourites at our carol service; come along as a family to celebrate Christmas at one of our two Crib services (lots of dress-up activity for children); or spend time in traditional reflection and worship at our Christmas Holy Communion services.

Everyone had a wonderful time during an informal family Communion Service which featured, hymns, child-friendly bible story, fun sing-along, activities and resources for the children, and a thought-provoking reflection by Revd Helen on how unfairly the world’s resources are distributed amongst God’s people.

Well… With everything going on, we’re still hoping to perform for you this Christmas! Lots of covid precautions in place, most of which are outlined on the booking form.

It was a wonderful day, filled with faith, hope and love.

Welcome, Helen and thank you from the church family of StMM with StJE and the wider community of Hucknall, for answering the call to be with us.

In November, world leaders will meet in Glasgow for important climate negotiations. A group of Christians (YCCN) who are very concerned about Climate Change and Climate Justice for all, are walking in a relay from Cornwall to Glasgow, to urge world leaders to make decisions which protect people, not bank balances, and give the message that no country should be pushed further into debt by climate change.

On Thursday 2 September, the relay reaches St Mary Magdalene’s Church, where walkers will be welcomed at around 5pm. They will set off from church on the next stage of the relay towards Huthwaite on Friday morning.

Please look out for the walkers and encourage them as they ‘Rise To The Moment’!
