Don’t they look fabulous!

The wreaths replace the Christmas trees which traditionally grace St Mary Magdalene Church during Advent, but which in line with current Covid-19 restrictions are this year missing.

Lovely carols, lots of dads with towels on their heads for shepherd costumes and everyone enjoying the wonder of the Greatest Story Ever Told.

Curate James Pacey led the Christingle building activity and with almost military planning, hundreds of oranges, candles, red ribbons, cocktail sticks and little marshmallow sweets, were assembled by the congregation, between the singing of beautiful carols.

Once the Christingles were ready, the church lights were dimmed and the candles lit, creating a wonderful, festive atmosphere throughout the church.

Starting on the 2nd of December, almost 60 trees were viewed by over 800 visitors on the first night alone, with almost 2,000 people expected over the four day event. Visitors can vote for their favourite tree, beautifully decorated by Hucknall shops, businesses, clubs and organisations.
